Zaid Mohidin

A native South African, he has over 23 years of experience working in both the public and private sectors within South Africa. He began his career in ICT before establishing his own company in 1999 and has since been involved in various successful initiatives.
Since 2006, he started focusing on creating a new mindset towards Open innovation and has developed award-winning strategies that partner global economic actors and corporates in its new approach to open innovation, supplier development and stimulating local economies. His laudable contribution in developing sector stimulation programmes to generate sustainable businesses and Local Economic Development has been welcomed and adopted by various local and global entities.
His innovation has given birth to the first Hybrid Incubators in South Africa which received European Union accreditation by EBN as the first EU|BIC (Business Innovation Centre) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He is a graduate of WITS University in South Africa and received an MBA with majors in International Strategy from De Montford, United Kingdom.
He was appointed onto the Board of Directors of SABTIA (Southern Africa Business Technology Incubation Association) where he now serves as Chairman.
He is committed to community development and serves on the Pumas United Social Investment Committee since 2009.

Sibongile Shongwe

From the age of 14, Ms Sibongile Purity Shongwe was a facilitator of youth leadership programs through the Independent Project Trust (IPT). My involvement covered conflict resolution, assertiveness, English Advancement communication Program with the 1850 English Foundation, poetry writing and performing arts facilitation. Since then she has never taken a back seat in Youth and Black people development in skills, emotional support and economic growth. Her passion is knowledge of self and empowerment of those previously disadvantaged. She is also the winner of the 2009 KwaZulu Natal Entrepreneur of the Year.
MaShongwes competencies are attributed to studies in Information Communication and Technology (ICT), Banking Systems, Projects Management, Labour Law and Human resources.
Now lady of 41, is currently working as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Platinum Incubator (TPI), appointed as a board member of the Southern Africa Business Technology Incubation Association (SABTIA). A member of Women Development Initiatives such as IWLB, WIDE (Women in Developing Economies) and others.
MaShongwes career started in community as a youth leader grew into the Amalgamated Banks of South Africa (ABSA), Airports Company South Africa, Adecco Human Capital, Illovo Sugar Mills, Mayivuke Community development Projects, Global View Technologies, and Progressive Women of South Africa.

Michael Reddy

Michael Reddy is the Chief Executive Officer of Furntech, the largest business incubator in South Africa, which focuses specifically on the furniture and wood products sector.
He is a founding member of the Southern African Business Technology Incubation Association (SABTIA) and is currently a member of the Executive Committee and past Chairperson of SABTIA.
Michael has been involved in Small Business Development for over 25 years. He is also an accredited Business Incubation trainer and is certified to deliver the InfoDev Business Incubation Training Program in Africa.
He has received numerous awards including the Minister’s award for his contribution to Small business development in SA.

Robert Buys

Robert Buys, an entrepreneur himself, understands the challenge put before him particularly in ensuring that SABTIA becomes the preferred Technology Incubation Association in the Region.
Robert holds a Diploma in Production and Inventory Control Systems from Wits Technikon, a Diploma in Effective Communication Leadership from Canton Graduate School in the USA, a qualified Master Assessor, an Accredited Business and Industrial Advisor.
He travelled extensively throughout Africa and Europe and the experience gained over the years will assist him in positively contribute towards SABTIA mandate in the following 4 key areas:
– Skills training provision to SABTIA affiliated members to better support and drive their businesses.
– Provision of Business Incubation to existing members in their respective sectors.
– Facilitate network sessions of existing and potential members.
– Use SABTIA’s platform as a catalyst for members’ business growth and Job creation.

Yashin Brijmohan

Yashin Brijmohan is a South African who has a passion for the development of people. He is a Professional Engineer with his primary Engineering Degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Masters of Engineering from the University of Pretoria, and the Diploma in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick. He is currently employed at Monash South Africa (Higher Education Institution) as Executive Dean of Business, Engineering, and Technology managing the areas of Engineering, Commerce, Accountancy, Information Technology, and Law. He also serves as the Vice President of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations, Chairperson of the International Engineering Capacity Building Committee, and Board member of the UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education. Phelelani Mpanza

Phelelani Mpanza is a seasoned commerce graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand. He started his career as a lecturer for Entrepreneurship and Research Assistance to Dr. Nobantu Mbeki at the School of Economics and Business Sciences. In 2015, the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals awarded him the Student Entrepreneur of the Year award. He has worked as an Enterprise Development Consultant at 20/20Insights and an Account Executive at Bidvest Bank. In 2016, Mr. Mpanza completed a BRICS Programme for Global Governance at Fudan University in China, where he was appointed to represent the South African delegation as the Finance Minister in the first Model BRICS Summit. Mr. Mpanza holds a Masters of Commerce degree in Business Sciences, with his research focusing on “Assessing the impact of forms of entrepreneurial capital on Corporate Entrepreneurship in State-Owned Enterprises”. His research attracted international attention and was subsequently published as a book by German-based Lambert Academic Publishers. Mr. Mpanza is currently a PhD scholar at the University of the Witwatersrand at the School of Economics and Business Sciences. Jenine Zachar

Justin Rovian Naidoo

Justin has a master’s degree in Finance and Investment management specialising in Financial Engineering with his thesis in Econometrics. Justin spent the first part of his career working in London. He picked up his investment banking and M&A expertise working at such places as Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Bear Stearns and JP Morgan.
On his return to South Africa, Justin joined Nedbank Capital has a senior derivatives sales trader and market made its range of equity and derivative products and portfolios.
Justin then became heavily involved with credit deal structuring and credit model design having worked at Absa as head of sales for its Technology Finance entity. He more recently ran sales for Business core banking at FNB which consists of FNB’s Transact and Lend books at over R5.5bn NPAT
He has been heavily involved in financial risk/credit modelling in the business bank space with a deep understanding of SMME modelling and risk-weighted criteria used to fund SMME’s .

Seapei Mafonyane

Ms. Seapei S. Mafoyane, MBA, BSc, serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Shanduka Black Umbrellas. Ms. Mafoyane joined Discovery Health Limited and worked in the Vitality team eventually becoming the quality manager and the functional head of Vitality. She then joined Standard Bank of South Africa as head of customer and strategy, business banking credit, personal and business banking South Africa and subsequently moved to South African Breweries Limited as business performance and capability leader. She has been an Independent Non-Executive Director at Rolfes Holdings Limited since August 26, 2012 and serves as its Lead Independent Director. Jonathan Naidoo

Jonathan Naidoo is employed as the Chief Executive Officer at SmartXchange. Jonathan’s vast business experiences coupled with his connectivity both domestically and internationally has earned him a reputation of an astute “deal maker”. In his previous employments he served as HEAD: Economic Research, Policy and Advocacy at the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry and after restructuring he became the Team Leader of Trade & Investment, which also included his economic portfolio.
