One of the major roles for SABTIA is thought leadership and making inputs into policy formulation. This needs effective engagement and facilitation amongst all key role players. We propose that we implement this through a series of Roundtable discussions.
The key objectives of the SABTIA Roundtable discussions are for the following purpose:
To create a platform for policymakers and practitioners to engage on points of mutual and industry importance;
To understand the different viewpoints of these points from a neutral perspective and approach of mutual respect and;
To make necessary inputs and suggestions to Policy Makers and get feedback from Stakeholders on draft policy recommendations.
Who should attend:
Government and public sector key stakeholders
Procurement, transformation and ESD departments.
Incubator and Accelerators hubs, in the private and public sector.
The Roundtable discussion will take place in 1 day per region for over 4 hours.
We will address the fundamental issues facing the industry. The primary issues may be as follows, but not limited to:
How do we in the South African Context, define Incubators and Accelerators?
What are the different types of business models of Incubators and accelerators that we have in South Africa?
What is the impact of incubators/accelerators? How do we measure their impact?
Given South Africa’s economic challenges, how can incubation and acceleration make a more meaningful contribution?
Our discussions will provide an in-depth understanding of business incubation and acceleration hubs: what they are, what they represent, how they should be structured and what kind of services they should be delivering to entrepreneurs. Each segment of the incubation service value chain will be looked at in detail, along with dynamic testimonials from some of the network’s best practice examples.
